We look to use ingredients in different ways throughout the week so that we&#8217;re benefiting from the ability of do-aheads and being able to buy in bulk.  We also benefit from a <a href=\"https:\/\/crankymouse.com\/the-kitchen-sink\/stocking-your-pantry-for-home-cooking-the-basics\"target=\"_blank\">well-stocked pantry<\/a>.<\/em><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/crankymouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/columbine.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"columbine\" width=\"535\" height=\"356\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5688\" srcset=\"https:\/\/crankymouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/columbine.jpg 535w, https:\/\/crankymouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/columbine-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 535px) 100vw, 535px\" \/><br \/>\nLast year I planted these columbine from seeds.  This year I have three flourishing plants and one tiny one (that I didn&#8217;t plant but that came up anyway).  Excited about their success, considering I barely tended the seeds or even remembered that I had, in fact, planted a whole columbine shoot with flower attached in my all-shade garden, I now have plans to reenact this and plant them alongside the house where nothing grows except the lilies of the valley that I attempted to transplant there.  The rest is just kind of left \u2013 lonely, neglected.  I&#8217;m thinking the columbine might like the shady side of the house.  We&#8217;ll see how it goes.  First, they&#8217;re going to have to survive <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/foodformyfamily#!\/album.php?aid=20832&#038;id=107847365908743&#038;ref=mf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">the rabbits<\/a> that seem to be intent on finding lunch over there.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><br clear=\"all\"><strong>Monday \u2013 <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/chaosinthekitchen.com\/2010\/05\/bacon-wrapped-turkey-mignons-and-corn-salad-with-bacon-tomato-and-avocado\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bacon-Wrapped Turkey Mignons and Corn Salad with Bacon, Tomato, and Avocado<\/a><br \/>\n<br clear=\"all\"><strong>Tuesday \u2013 <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/dinnerwithjulie.com\/2010\/06\/03\/eggs-piperade\/\" target=\"_blank\">Eggs in Pip\u00e9rade<\/a><br \/>\n<br clear=\"all\"><strong>Wednesday \u2013 <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/pinchmysalt.com\/2008\/11\/12\/curried-turkey-salad-with-apples-cranberries-and-walnuts\/\" target=\"_blank\">Curried Turkey Salad with Apples, Cranberries and Walnuts<\/a><br \/>\n<br clear=\"all\"><strong>Thursday \u2013 <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/twopeasandtheirpod.com\/cheese-tortellini-with-spinach-and-slow-roasted-tomatoes\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cheese Tortellini with Spinach and Slow Roasted Tomatoes<\/a><br \/>\n<br clear=\"all\"><strong>Friday \u2013 <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/desertculinary.blogspot.com\/2009\/08\/avocado-and-canadian-bacon-pizza.html\">Avocado and Canadian Bacon Pizza<\/a><br \/>\n<br clear=\"all\"><\/p>\n<h3>The Preparation Shortcuts:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong> Start by making extra turkey when you make the turkey mignons on Monday, enough for the turkey salad on Wednesday.<br \/>\n<strong>2.<\/strong> On Tuesday, roast tomatoes for both the eggs in pip\u00e9rade and for the tortellini on Thursday.<br \/>\n<strong>3.<\/strong> Save by buying in bulk.  Avocados are used Monday and Friday; tomatoes are used throughout the week.  Use the leftover ingredients to top Friday&#8217;s pizza.<br \/>\n<strong>4.<\/strong> Cook the leftover bacon from Monday and store in the fridge for Friday.
