Coming to a City Near You, and Other Goings On

Shaina · July 23, 2012 · 20 Comments

The Desserts in Jars book tour officially kicked off today. Check to see if I’m coming anywhere near you.

I’ll be in New York City and Philadelphia the next few days (with Amanda!!!), and then I’m headed to the West Coast next month. I’ll be adding events as they come up, so watch the Desserts in Jars tour dates page if you want to see if I’m coming closer to you. I would so like to meet you all and say hello.

As soon as I sign off here, I’m headed into the city to get ready for tonight’s event. This is where I’ll be the next few days. If you’re in the area, feel free to stop by and say hi.

Monday, July 23 – NYC

Broadway Panhandler
65 East 8th Street
New York, NY 10003

I’m making and sampling two recipes tonight. One for the fruit lovers and another for those who love their chocolate.
TIME: 5PM to 7PM

Tuesday, July 24 – NYC

The Meadow
523 Hudson Street
New York, NY 10014

It’s a cocktail hour! Stop by for a drink and some conversation!
TIME: 7:30PM

Thursday, July 26 – Philadelphia

Sweet Elizabeth’s Cakes & The Spiral Bookcase
4409 Main Street
Manayunk, PA 19127

I’ll be making and letting you sample one of my favorite recipes from the book.
TIME: Hosted at Sweet Elizabeth’s 7PM

Friday, July 27 to Sunday, July 29 – Bucks County, PA

I’m rounding out this trip with a Big Summer Potluck hosted by one of my favorite blogging families. Plus, I get to see some of my favorite people and meet Aimee‘s sweet baby Clara!!

When I’m not on an airplane, I do sometimes work. So, here are a few of the most recent things you can read from me around the web.

“The family dinner is something we do nightly, sitting down to talk and eat together, trying to instill in them some form of manners […] ‘No, you may not eat mashed potatoes with your fingers.’ ‘Please refrain from painting the table with your egg yolk.’” Read the rest.

“If you’re looking for an activity to get your kids going this summer, try this easy-to-pull-off ice cream in a zip-top bag. It’s fun to see the kids’ faces as milk and sugar turn into a frozen treat with nothing but the power of their hands giving it a good shake.” Continue reading about family dinners.

“I try to make a list of things that we would like to do, as long a list I can come up with, and I ask the kids to help think up ideas. They can be crazy and ridiculous like a neighborhood paintball war, to things like trips to the water park.” Continue reading my summer survival tips.

Just thought I’d say that I just discovered your book today (and by proxy your site) and I LOVE IT. Best of all, I live in Seattle, so I’ll definitely be attending one of the three events you’ll be having here. I love love love desserts in jars so finding out about your book/site truly made my day. 🙂

Great food, and thank you for sharing the recipe. I think I can have those as my desserts to my vacation leave next months. I’ve just bookmarked your site to visit again from time to time.
