Airports, Pasta, Grillin’ and More

Shaina · May 14, 2011 · 11 Comments

We’re working with Barilla Pasta and Piccolini TV to make a series of Kids Cooking videos. I’m excited to be a part of this project and hope you’ll subscribe over there and follow along with us as we make our way through the summer season. Speaking of summer, we’re also grillin’ up a storm now that it’s warm out, and we’re getting ready to host a smoky party for friends and neighbors this week.

I was stuck in the airport in Phoenix this last week. My luggage was somewhere else, but no one really knew quite where, and I was unable to retrieve photos from my camera to finish the post I was working on to check in over here. (It’s a Spinach and Potato Frittata that is on its way in the next day or so.)

So, as I head out to the MN Food Bloggers Share Our Strength Bake Sale, I also want to share a few of the things that were going on while I was out gallivanting and getting stuck in airports that should have gone up last week.

First, my first Cooking with Kids video is up on Barilla’s Piccolini TV, as in one where we actually cook. The kids have been so excited about this project, and I love having them involved. This time we made one of our favorite pasta salads, a variation on our Greek orzo pasta salad that I first shared a few years ago.

Second, we have a grillin’ get-together coming up with our neighbors. I’ve been working with Bush’s Grillin’ Beans to bring you a smokehouse-inspired menu, and I’m also excited to give away a fantastic cookout kit sponsored by Bush’s! Ole is getting our grill ready, and we’re planning a menu. (Teaser: Smoked pork chops with an apricot jalapeño chutney to pair with Bush’s Texas Ranchero Grillin’ Beans.

So, that’s what’s been going on and what’s coming up here. Now, off to the bake sale and then back to work for me. Have a fantastic weekend!
