The Monday Menu: November 9, 2009

I’m done commenting on the craziness of working from home and trying to make time for life. Done. Someone commented on it today, and I realize that I may have been whining. It is possible. And while not without reason, I hate whining. Ask my kids how empathetic I am in response to a whine. It’s not pretty. Besides, having free time is overrated. My kids might have decent haircuts if that were the case, and what a shame that would be.

We drove down to Mankato yesterday to pick up our newest baby. She’s green, this one. I like her a whole lot. She’s an old Suzuki motorcycle. The Suzuki brings our motorcycle count to two. That puts us one closer to the seven I told Ole he needed when we got married. I know Ole’s looking forward to the restoration process, as am I. I like making old things new.

Monday – Pumpkin and carrot soup, homemade bread (I’ve declared Monday to be soup night until further notice.)

Tuesday – Chicken alfredo calzones on spring mix

Wednesday – Chicken arepas, sweet potato fries, lime butter corn

Thursday – Mediterranean pasta, spring mix salad, french bread

Friday – Sauerbraten, red cabbage, potato dumplings (My ultimate comfort food.)

Recipes to look for here at Food for My Family this week: Cardamom apple crisp, roast turkey, roasted salsa and exciting news!

I love that you’re making Sauerbraten! It looks like a lot of work, but I’d love to try it. It’s one of my favorite German dishes, next to spaetzle. I see too that you’re from MN? We’re originally from St. Peter, so very familiar with Mankato.
